Members share in the Altar Guild's work by preparing for scheduled Sunday and midweek service as well as
weddings, funerals, and special services; polishing brass; and delivering altar flowers to parishioners. Anyone interested
in serving on the Altar Guild or in learning more about this work should contact Father Basinger or Ginny Sears.
Our Mission
Members of the Altar Guild are appointed by the Rector and work under his supervision to prepare for services
of the church. They are responsible for care of the altars and font, altar linens, hangings, and clergy vestments. Appropriate
preparations are made before all regularly scheduled services and occasional services such as weddings and funerals or special
services. Colors are changed as appropriate to the church season or the occasion. Following services, communion vessels are
rinsed then washed, linens laundered, vestments and other items stored, as appropriate. Supplies of wine, wafers, candles,
brass and silver polish, other cleaning supplies are purchased from parish funds. Fabrics and other supplies are purchased
as needed from gift or parish monies.
Flowers for Sunday services, Easter, and special occasions; fruits and vegetables
for Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas greens and flowers are made possible by gifts from members of the parish and others. Flowers
from the altar are later taken to shut-ins, the ill, hospitalized, and residents of the Pioneer Home or other care facilities.
Parishioners
are invited to assist in decorating the church for Christmas and in folding palm crosses for Palm Sunday.
