Back to School Hike to
Portage Pass 
Sat. August 16, 2008
(rain date is Sat. August 23, 2008
  • 10am - Meet at Carrs Huffman (Cafe Entrance) to carpool to Whittier. $12 per vehicle to drive through Whittier Tunnel

 

  • The Hike is 3 miles round trip with some elevation gain. Children 8 years and older with previous hiking experience can do this hike

We will carpool to Whittier from Carrs Huffman.  The fee to go through the tunnel is $12 a vehicle.

This is a 3 mile moderate hike, great for children and adults. We will eat our lunch on the shores of Portage Lake across from the Portage Glacier.

Phone or e-mail Donna Basinger by Friday August 15th to say you are going. Invite a friend. I will phone you Saturday morning if the weather is inclement in Whittier and the hike is changed to the following Saturday.

Bring:

good shoes for hiking

camera

lunch

water

snacks

hat

gloves

rain gear (incase of a sudden change in the weather)

insect repellant

sit-upon

money for tunnel and ice cream in Whittier
